Calling all members!

We are looking for 20-25 volunteers to host a Career Development Day for the residents of The Maryville Academy’s Mothers Recovery Home located at 1658 W. Grand Avenue, Chicago. Parking available on-site.  Maryville residents are pregnant and parenting women, ages 18 to 35, who are struggling with substance use disorders and who are being given the opportunity to acquire the skills to live an independent, safe, and sober life.  Many of these women have never had a job and are uncertain where to look for a job or how to apply for one.  Coalition volunteers will help review resumes, conduct mock interviews, provide general career/job seeking advice, and provide gently-used professional clothing to the residents to help them feel empowered as they journey towards a better future for themselves and their children.  We expect between 10 and 25 women to attend.

Even if you cannot volunteer in person on June 16, we still would be grateful if you could donate gently-used professional clothing and/or shoes that the residents may wear to job interviews.  Please bring such donations to Irwin IP, 150 N. Wacker, Suite 700 anytime from May 22 through June 9 (time will be needed to sort the items thus the early cut off).  Please ask at the lobby desk for Lisa Holubar or Preethi Nayaganti.
