Professor Heidi K. Brown,an internationally-recognized public speaker on issues of lawyer identity, writer identity, peak performance, and mindfulness, will break down the various personality types that people possess, explain how social and professional connections are a well-being pillar in lawyering no matter the personality type you may have, and provide tips as to how each of us can realistically leverage our personality types to maximize our professional and social network.

Heidi is the author of a three-volume legal writing book series entitledThe Mindful Legal Writer. She also has written and published books about well-being and performance for law students and lawyers includingThe Introverted Lawyer, Untangling Fear in Lawyering, andThe Flourishing Lawyer: A Multi-Dimensional Approach to Performance and Well-Being.  In 2021, Heidi earned a master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. She is the 2023 Award Recipient for “outstanding contributions to well-being in legal education” from the Association of American Law Schools’ Section on Balance and Well-Being in Legal Education, and was selected as a 2023-2024 SCRIBES Fellow by the American Society of Legal Writers.

Building on a foundation of thirty years of experience in legal practice and academia, Heidi champions the importance of openly discussing stressors, anxieties, and fears in lawyering, and helping anxious law students and lawyers tap into individual strengths to become profoundly effective advocates—in their authentic voices.
